Real Men Don't Smell Like Flowers

real men don't smell like flowers
they are twigs and leaves
kindling
the wind
soap
clean
cotton
fresh dug earth
broken in leather
and saltwater dried to the skin!

This poem is a "double fib," if you will. It uses 8, 5 3, 2 and 1 syllables (a reverse fib) followed by 1, 2, 3, 5 and 8 (a typical fib). Submitted to Jingle's Poetry Rally! Happy Rally!

I started this poem after I wrote the June 2011 haiku "Quit Using." I didn't realize at the time that I'd end up writing a love poem to men everywhere! I hope you enjoy.

This is very accurate ... and flows beautifully.

Natural and earthy, steering clear of the twee and floral, nice flow too.
